Juan Andrés Carmona is a vibrant and versatile violinist and orchestral player.
He began lessons on the violin at the age of eight at the Almeria Professional School of Music. After that he studied at the Conservatorio Superior de Musica de Murcia with Joaquin Palomares and Rezart Kapetani. Juan continued his studies and graduated with honours in violin performance in 2011 at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Badajoz under the tutelage of Olga Vilkomirskaia, pupil of David Oistrakh at the Tchaikovsky Conservatoire. During this time he received coaching and took part in masterclasses from musicians such as Michael Thomas, Elena Mikhailovskaya, Miguel Pérez Espejo, Igor Sulyga, among others.
Juan entered Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance (London), holding the TCM trust scholarship, to study violin with Mayumi Fujikawa and John Crawford, and conducting with Jonathan Tilbrook. In 2014 he obtained a Master's Degree in Violin Performance.
Juan has taken part in numerous music courses and having coaching with distinguished musicians, such as Levon Chilingirian, Detlef Hahn, or Zsolt-Tihamér Visontay.
As an orchestral player Juan has been performing actively for the last few years in many countries around Europe, and been a member of different orchestras such as the Andalucía Youth Orchestra, Murcia Youth Orchestra, Extremadura Youth Orchestra or Trinity Laban Symphony Orchestra. Moreover he has played with some orchestras such as “Orquesta Ciudad de Almería”, “Orquesta Ciudad de Elche”, “Orquesta Sinfónica de Murcia”, “Orquesta Barroca de Extremadura”, and “Presjovem Orchestra”. He has performed in venues including National Auditory of Spain, Teatro Monumental in Madrid, Radiogebäude in Bratislava, Guione Teatre in Rome, Teatro Liceo in Barcelona, Blackheath Halls, Royal Festival Hall and Cadogan Hall in London.
As a chamber musician, he has played with several different groups as quartets, trios, quintets and duos performing successful concerts in Spain, the UK and Austria. Also he is a founding member of Merlin's Payos, a Klezmer Band based in London.
